Taurus dogs and cats
Will move for dinner, sunshine or you, in roughly that order
A Taurus dog or cat has found the warmest spot in the house and claimed it for life. Venus, their ruler, gives them a taste for good food, soft blankets, gentle hands and a routine that never changes. They are slow to rush and slower to forgive a late dinner, but their devotion is as solid as the floor.
Taurus dogs
Strolling, never walking, is the Taurus dog's pace, with a stop to read every lamppost like a newspaper. Try to hurry them and they simply sit down, planted like a garden gnome, until you agree to their pace. At home they have a favourite cushion, a favourite corner of the sofa and a favourite person, and all three are permanent arrangements.
Dinner is the centre of the Taurus dog day. They know the sound of the cupboard better than their own name and can hear a packet open from the bottom of the garden. Yet they are wonderfully gentle company, happy to lean their whole warm weight against your legs while you read, sighing with deep contentment and asking for nothing except that you stay exactly where you are.
Taurus cats
There is a single sunbeam on the landing, and the Taurus cat will follow it around the floor all afternoon, moving a few inches at a time with the patience of a glacier. They sleep on the clean laundry because it is soft and smells of you, and no argument has ever changed this. Fresh towels and newly made beds count as theirs too.
Change is suspicious to a Taurus cat. Move the bowl a foot to the left and a Taurus will stare at the old spot, then at you, until the injustice is fixed. A new throw on the sofa sits untouched for days while it is being judged. Once you have earned their trust, though, they settle beside you every evening on the same blanket, kneading it slowly with their eyes shut, as though making bread.
Taurus rabbits, birds and small wonders
A Taurus rabbit treats hay as serious business, sorting the pile until the sweetest strands sit on top. A Taurus tortoise takes a whole sunny afternoon over one dandelion leaf and regrets nothing. Their budgie has kept the same favourite perch since the day the cage arrived. Out in the field, the Taurus horse grazes beside you for as long as you care to stand there.
In a Bull's home there is a dent in one particular cushion that nobody else may use, and a food bowl licked so clean it shines. Nothing moves them off a warm spot, ever, and a new bed gets a long, suspicious sniff.
Routine that holds, comfort that is real and affection that is unhurried are how a Taurus pet knows they are loved. Long, slow strokes mean more to them than any new gadget. Give them time to approve of change, and the reward is years of steady devotion.
Taurus pets love whoever keeps the bowl and the blankets reliable, and an earth owner does that without even trying. A water owner adds the soft voice and the long stroke this sign could happily receive all day. With fire or air owners the household moves faster than a Taurus would choose, and this one joins in, eventually, after a nap.
Arriving with the Taurus Sun, your pet settled in as if they had always lived there, choosing a favourite spot by the first evening. Mark the day by staying put together, which is their favourite thing anyway.
Spend the day at Taurus speed, with a long nap together in the warmest spot, an extra brush and their favourite treat served exactly on time.

Is my pet a Taurus?
In 2026 the Sun is in Taurus from 20 April to 20 May, so a pet born or adopted in that window is a Taurus. The dates shift by a day or so from year to year, and on the first and last day the hour decides, so check the exact date with Hali's pet sign finder.
What if I don't know my pet's birthday?
Use their gotcha day, the day they came home to you. Plenty of people read a rescue animal's chart from that day, and it describes the start of your life together, which is a lovely thing to have a sign for.
