Sagittarius dogs and cats

Sagittarius dogs

Reach for a coat and a Sagittarius dog is waiting by the car before your arm is in the sleeve. Every walk is an expedition. They want the new path, the muddy field, the river they are definitely not supposed to go in. Meeting other dogs is a delight, and so is meeting people, cyclists, ducks and the occasional confused cow, who all receive the same enthusiastic hello.

Indoors the Sagittarius dog can look slightly baffled, as though the sofa were a waiting room for the next outing. They bring you toys with hopeful timing, usually as you sit down to work. Their sense of humour is real. They will steal a woolly hat off the hook, run a lap of the garden with it and return it with a look of great pride, because the game was the point all along.

Sagittarius cats

Out, then in, then out again, all within the length of a kettle boiling, is how a Sagittarius cat spends a morning. They have been found in the boot of the car, the garden shed and halfway along the neighbour's fence, each time looking thrilled with the view.

Comedy comes naturally to a Sagittarius cat. They launch sideways at nothing, gallop down the hall in the small hours and then sit very still as if nothing happened. They get bored of the same toy quickly, so a new cardboard box feels like a holiday. Affection comes in friendly bursts, a tail wrapped round your leg on the way past, a quick purr, and then they are off to see what the world is doing.

Sagittarius rabbits, birds and small wonders

Open floor sends a Sagittarius rabbit into binkies, those joyful twisting leaps. A ferret with this birthday treats every tube and sleeve as a tunnel to somewhere better. Sagittarius budgies want a new perch and a change of view. A Sagittarius horse lifts their head at every gate, wondering where it goes, ready to hack out somewhere new every single day.

An Archer declares every walk too short and ends it with a polite attempt to go the long way round. Every gate is tested and every open car door is an invitation. Your pet seems to find you very funny, and the feeling is mutual, especially during the evening zoomies.
