Aquarius dogs

There is a strange and wonderful mind inside an Aquarius dog. They carry the leaf instead of the stick, prefer the cardboard tube to the toy it came with, and have a whole routine for greeting the recycling bin. At the park they say hello to everybody, dog or human, with the easy friendliness of someone running for local council. Then they wander off to investigate a patch of clover that interests nobody else.

Rules interest them as ideas rather than instructions. An Aquarius dog will sit beautifully for a treat, then lie down and roll over without being asked, as though offering a more creative answer. They love company but also need a little space of their own, and may take themselves off to another room to think. Their affection is friendly and loyal, with an occasional head tilt that suggests they understand far more than they let on.

An Aquarius cat sleeps in places that do not seem designed for sleeping. The bathroom sink, the top of the printer, a single slipper. They are sociable in their own fashion, appearing at a party to greet every guest and then vanishing for the rest of the evening. Their meow sounds slightly unusual, and they have at least one habit nobody can explain, like patting every door handle on the way to bed.

Affection arrives on an odd timetable. An Aquarius cat may ignore you all afternoon, then sprint into the room at dusk, sit on your foot for exactly one minute and leave again. They like puzzles and follow the neighbourhood foxes with keen, friendly interest from the garden wall. A window cleaner on a ladder or a new sound in the street counts as fascinating company.

Aquarius rabbits, birds and small wonders

Willow balls get flipped, tossed and chased by Aquarius rabbits, who invent games nobody taught them. An Aquarius guinea pig squeaks hello at odd moments, just to see if anyone answers. Aquarius budgies learn the doorbell and use it at the least helpful times. Every yard with an Aquarius horse has a gate rope that keeps mysteriously coming untied.

Water Bearer pets keep a favourite object that makes no sense, such as a wooden spoon or the lid of a shoebox. They sleep in odd positions and odder places. Every visitor is a new friend. Your pet seems to be thinking about something important, and you would quite like to know what it is.
