The first decan of Capricorn

What the first decan of Capricorn is like

Saturn is in charge of the sign and its opening decan alike. Ambitious, responsible and drily funny, you were old as a child and grow younger with age.

Saturn rules both Capricorn and this decan.

The Capricorn underneath

Capricorn season begins at the winter solstice, the longest night, the exact moment the light starts its slow walk back. You know how to endure, and how to build something real while you do. You were probably called an old soul as a child. The secret is that you grow lighter, funnier and freer every single year.

How decans work

Each sign is thirty degrees of the zodiac, split into three decans of ten degrees, so the Sun spends about ten days in each. Hali uses the modern decan rulers, where each decan borrows the ruler of a sign of the same element. The older Chaldean system of Hellenistic astrology hands the decans to the seven classical planets in a fixed order instead, so some books name a different ruler.
