The second decan of Aquarius

What the second decan of Aquarius is like

Mercury lights up the mind. You are curious and quick, full of ideas, and your conversations wander into brilliant places.

Mercury rules this decan because it rules Gemini, a air sign like Aquarius.

The Aquarius underneath

Aquarius season arrives in the depth of winter, when the light is growing back but spring is still only a rumour. You belong a little to the future. You have never been good at thinking what you were told to think, and your heart is big enough for strangers on the other side of the world. People are drawn to you most when you stop trying to fit in.

How decans work

Each sign is thirty degrees of the zodiac, split into three decans of ten degrees, so the Sun spends about ten days in each. Hali uses the modern decan rulers, where each decan borrows the ruler of a sign of the same element. The older Chaldean system of Hellenistic astrology hands the decans to the seven classical planets in a fixed order instead, so some books name a different ruler.
